How to Download Apps on TCL Roku TV

I) Sideloading APKs

Step 1: Log in to the native play store

You need certain applications before installing apps on your TV.

These applications are to be used for checking your TV CPU architecture.

Step 2: Download the AIDA64 application

Search for AIDA64 on the Google TV Play Store. Select and install.

Step 3: Check your CPU arch

Open the AIDA64 application and go to the CPU section in the app. There will be multiple sections in this sidebar.

In the CPU section, look for the Supported ABIs heading. Write down the text next to this heading.

For eg., armeabi-v7a, armeabi. The 1st one is preferred.

Step 4: Download the APK files from a different device

Download the APKs of applications you want to install from APKMirror on your laptop or phone.

Select the latest version of your application. Click on the download button and the link will take you to all the variants listed.

Now according to the architecture of your TCL Roku TV, you noted down, download the APK for that architecture.

The architecture information is listed right beside the version of the application variant.

Step 5: Copy to Pendrive

Once you have downloaded the APK files for your TV, copy that APK file to a USB Flash Drive.

Connect this Pendrive to the TV through the USB port.

Step 6: Download Solid File Explorer app

Download the Solid File Explorer App on your TCL TV through the Play Store.

Step 7: Enable Installation from Unknown Sources

Once you go to install an app, the TV will ask you whether you want to allow installations from unknown sources.

Select OK if your TV allows that. In case the toggle isn't available readily, go to settings and change the settings.

Step 8: Open File Explorer

Open the File Explorer App and open the sidebar by clicking the left arrow key on your remote.

You will find your drive name in this sidebar possibly in the middle. Navigate to it and click OK on your remote.

Once you are inside your Storage Media, install the applications one by one by clicking on them.

Step 9: Install Apps

Finally, you can install your applications. Click on the APKs and select the OK button.

This will open Android Installation. It will give you two options. Install and Cancel.

II) Download apps from the Native app store

You can download and install apps and games on your TCL Android TV. Follow these step-by-step instructions.

From the TV Home screen, go to Apps.
Select Get more apps. This will take you to the Google Play Store.
To browse Apps Press up or down arrows to view different categories. Select one if you like.
To search go to the Search icon, located on top of the screen. Use the on-screen keyboard to type.
For free apps, just select Install.
For Paid apps, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the purchase.
Once you have downloaded the app, you will see the option to Open or Uninstall the app.
Press Open.
Press Uninstall to remove the app.

Adding Certified Applications to your Roku TV

Some channels require a paid subscription while others are free. You can browse the Roku Channel Store directly from your Roku device.

To add a channel to your Roku:

Go to Search Channels and type in the name of the app you wish to download.

Wait for the app to be added.
You'll get a confirmation message once it's added. Select OK.

Adding Non-Certified Channels

Non-Certified channels can be installed on a Roku device by using the channel's dedicated access code (e.g. "FG324") provided by the developer of the channel.

These apps are not found in the Roku Store. Non-certified channels may be used by developers for testing, or to limit access to their channel to a smaller set of users.

To install a non-certified channel:

Go to my.roku.com on your computer.
Sign in to your Roku account.
Under Manage account settings, select Add channel with a code.
Enter the channel access code received from the channel developer or online and select Add Channel.

The channel will not immediately appear in the list of channels on your Roku TV.

Your Roku device checks every 24 hours for any new apps you have added and automatically installs them.

If you would like to install immediately, go to Roku Settings > System > System update > Check now.
